Inside Internet Filtering

Thanks for visiting insideinternetfiltering.com.  As I approached my 10th anniversary in this industry, I looked back and found myself wishing I had started blogging at the very beginning.  There is so much that has gone on, it really is an interesting story.  So I am starting now.  But enough about the blog, a little about me.

I have been involved with the Internet filtering industry since the late 90’s, when my brother and I founded SafeBrowse.com.  We began by using off-the-shelf products available at that time and progressed to writing our own when the off-the-shelf products no longer suited our needs.

I have designed and built Internet Filtering products at the ISP level (SafeBrowse.com), consumer level (Safe Eyes), and network level (EtherShield).  These products are regarded in the industry as some of the best.  Safe Eyes for instance was rated #1 by Consumer Reports magazine and has been awarded Editors’ Choice Awards by both PC Magazine and Laptop Magazine.

Change is constant and it has been fun to watch the technology and policy around Internet filtering change with time.  Arguments over Internet filtering and censorship have given way to acceptance of Internet filtering as a necessity.  It has been equally as interesting to watch the technology evolve become more accurate and easier to use.
